Mr Joel Stein
MBBCh, FRACS
Mr Joel Stein is a General and Colorectal Surgeon based in Perth, providing care for both public and private patients. With training and experience spanning South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia, he offers comprehensive surgical care across a broad range of general and colorectal conditions.
Mr Stein completed his medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg before undertaking his internship at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. His early surgical career included time working in rural South Africa, followed by two years gaining further experience in London and South East England. These opportunities exposed him to a wide variety of surgical conditions and healthcare systems before he relocated to Australia.
After moving to Australia, Mr Stein continued his surgical training in Queensland and New South Wales before settling in Perth. He completed specialist training in General Surgery and subsequently undertook post-fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
Education & Professional Development
Prior to his current appointment, Mr Stein held consultant positions at Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital. Today, he consults privately from rooms in Midland and Perth and serves as a public consultant at St John of God Midland Hospital.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Stein is actively involved in surgical education. He teaches medical students and surgical trainees, contributes to teaching and examining through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and has been involved in trauma management education.
