Surgery Fees & Billing
We believe in providing clear and transparent information about surgical costs. Before your procedure, you will receive a written estimate outlining Mr Stein’s fees, any expected out-of-pocket costs, and payment requirements. We are available to assist with questions regarding fees and billing at any time.
The cost of surgery depends on several factors, such as:
- The type and complexity of the procedure.
- Whether the procedure is covered by private health insurance.
- Your level of insurance cover and policy restrictions.
- Any applicable Medicare rebates.
- Additional fees from other healthcare providers, such as anaesthetists, assistants, pathology, or hospital services.
Private Health Insurance
Mr Stein is a Known Gap Provider with most major health funds. Under this arrangement, eligible privately insured patients will have their surgical out-of-pocket expenses capped at a predetermined amount, providing greater certainty about the costs associated with surgery.
Mr Stein is a participating HBF no-gap provider for eligible members. Where applicable, eligible HBF patients face no out-of-pocket surgical fees from Mr Stein for inpatient procedures. Depending on your level of cover and the providers involved in your care, you may also have reduced or no out-of-pocket costs from other healthcare providers involved in your surgery.
Understanding Your Surgical Fees
A private surgical procedure involves a team of healthcare professionals as well as hospital services and facilities. In addition to Mr Stein’s surgical fee, there may be separate accounts from other providers involved in your care.
We will provide you with the names and contact details of the practitioners involved in your care. This means you have the opportunity to obtain any quotes prior to proceeding with surgery.
Depending on your level of private health insurance cover, you may also have a hospital excess or co-payment. This amount is paid directly to the hospital at the time of admission and is separate from Mr Stein’s surgical fees.
